Jeep’s venerable Liberty will be revamped for the 2012 model year according to the latest reports. This new model will follow in the footsteps of other Chrysler products that were recently revamped, including the Dodge Durango and Charger, the Chrysler 300, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
What’s not clear at this point is whether the Liberty will be refreshed or whether it will receive a more extensive redesign. The current second-generation Libertyhas been on sale since 2008. For 2011, the Liberty is getting a number of small updates including a new steering wheel and a lower price tag. Jeep has also launched a 70th Anniversary Edition model.
Another unknown variable is the Dodge Nitro, which rides on the same platform as the Liberty. Reports haven’t mentioned the Dodge variant, which makes us wonder if the Nitro will receive the same update or whether it will be replaced with someone else entirely. Stay tuned.
