Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty Campaign A Success!

Chrysler won an OBIE award for its Jeep Wrangler campaign featured on the Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty:MW3 Special Edition billboard. The billboards back lighting changes depending on if its daytime or nighttime, each revealing a unique background.

The OBIE award is issued by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, recognizing unique campaigns through many forms of advertising and while the overall campaign featuring the Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: MW3 Special Edition went far beyond the billboards – it was a trio of electroluminescent billboards located Los Angeles, Chicago and New York that claimed this award.
Created by the advertising agency Global Hue, these three billboards used “patented low voltage electroluminescent Light Tape lamps” to show an image that looks like it was caught using a night vision camera – similar to the images shown during night-fight segments of the incredible first person shooting game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. During the day, these high tech billboards in LA, Chicago and New York show the Jeep Wrangler climbing over a large boulder out in the middle of a rugged, mountainous landscape. Along with this scenic image of the Wrangler conquering the wilderness is the tagline “The Toughest Vehicle In The World”, with the Jeep and Call of Duty MW3 logo on the other side. Once the sun goes down, the image changes (as shown on the right in the green portion of the image), with a night vision-style look at the Jeep Wrangler climbing over a badly damaged vehicle (it looks a little like a Scion tC) in a war ravished location. The same tagline accompanies this image but “Any World” is added to the war scene. This unique use of the Jeep in identical positions but in very different locations won the Chrysler Group the OBIE.

The 2012 Jeep J-12 Concept

The 2012 Jeep J-12 concept is an excellent throwback that shows just what Jeep is capable of. With a larger than life build, the J-12 is big enough to handle anything the outdoors can throw at it. What do you think of the concept so far?

The Jeep J-12 concept is essentially an extended version of Mopar’s recently introduced JK-8 pickup conversion kit for the Jeep Wrangler. The rear of the Wrangler Unlimited’s frame was extended 18 inches, allowing the spare tire to be relocated under the bed floor and making the cargo box a full six feet in length. A custom hood and front fender set was created as a nod to aficionados of the beloved Jeep Gladiator series trucks.
Off-road muscle has been improved with the addition of the new Mopar three-inch suspension lift kit, as well as Teraflex sway bars controlling ARB air-locker equipped Dynatrac D-44 and D-60 axle assemblies. Traction is handled through classic 36-inch tires mounted on 16-inch steel wheels.
The cabin of the J-12 concept has been “dressed down” in support of a basic truck theme, with the carpet being replaced by rugged truck bed liner, and the bucket seats re-crafted into a modern version of a bench seat, trimmed in white with a whimsical plaid pattern.
Further highlights include a Mopar fuel-filler door, Mopar slush mats, Tom Woods custom driveshafts and Katzkin seat trim.

The 2012 Jeep Compass Review

The 2012 Jeep Compass offers performance, style, and comfort. More than that, it is a fun drive fit for a wide range of drivers. Car enthusiasts love it for its raw power, and commuters prefer it for its utilitarian prowess.

The compass is an interesting addition to the Jeep family of on and off-road vehicles. It is much smaller than the boxy, rugged-looking, go-anywhere Jeep Wrangler, but offers a lot in terms of comfort instead of off-road driving capabilities. It is still a Jeep, however, and can roam through small streams – or large, deeper ones if you spring for the optional “Freedom Drive” off-road package – or get you through all sorts of unpleasant road conditions.
On the outside, the Compass stands just a shade over five feet tall and looks like a smaller version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee with its same trademark, wide-toothed grill, extra-wide stance, sculpted sides, and flat, black, inset door handles.
Under the hood, the Compass has a modest 2.4-liter, four-cylinder aluminum engine producing a modest 172 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. That’s not going to turn the Compass into a race car like its 150-mile-an-hour big brother, the Grand Cherokee SRT-8. But it is more than enough power for a compact like this to stay ahead of traffic. And in locked 4-wheel, low gear it is powerful enough to tow 1,000 pounds and pull the car through sucking mud or deep snow, and roll easily up wet, bumpy, 30-degree slopes.

Jeep Wrangler and Chrysler Concepts

Chrysler stole the show in Beijing with some new concepts celebrating the year of the dragon. The Chrysler 300 Yuri and Jeep Wrangler "Dragon" concepts were completely blacked out, highlighting their stylish design and raw power. What do you think so far?

With 2012 being the Year of the Dragon, Jeep decided to wrap one of its iconic Wranglers around a dragon theme. Although it’s strictly a design concept, Jeep says the vehicle could be put into production if consumers show enough of a demand for it.
The concept is based on a China-market Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, painted black with a body-colour three-piece hardtop. Several bronze-gold details are added to the exterior, from the 18-inch alloy wheels to the engine cover and bolts for the fuel filler door. Bronze-gold is a colour typically associated with dragons.
There is also a dragon decal that starts on the hood and runs down the driver’s side of the vehicle up to the passenger door. Much of the exterior gets blacked-out details, from black painted fenders and a gloss-black appliqué on the front bumper, to a black-finish LED exterior lighting package that features aftermarket projector headlamps, fog lamps, turn lamps and tail lamps.
